The project PORTUGUESE MUSIC FOR TWO PIANOS was created by Inês Andrade and Marta Menezes to promote portuguese chamber music, whilst showing their work as pianists through pieces from their country.
Through a thorough research and despite the fact that there were initially very few well-known pieces, they discovered a good amount of varied and interesting material.
The project is innovative through its singularity. Its importance lies in the fact that it not only re-discovers works that were just played at their première, but it also presents pieces of which no records of performance exist.
This project has also captured the attention of contemporary composers, that have written and dedicated works to Duo Pianíssimo.
Duo Pianíssimo has premiered works by Sérgio Azevedo and Tiago Cabrita. "Sonatina for two pianos" and "Do outro lado do espelho", both written in 2013, currently integrate the Duo's repertoire.
